  • Are you licensed? Did you go to school?

YES! It is required in Nova Scotia that all makeup artists must be trained by an accredited school and licensed by the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia. I am update to date with the annual renewal of the specific makeup artistry license within the Association. I also happily graduated with high honours from the Makeup Artistry program at the Hair Design Centre.
  • What about sanitation? Should I be worried?

No! You will never have to worry with me as your makeup artist! It’s always a good thing to question though. Someone is applying product around some of the most sensitive areas of the face. As a licensed makeup artist I can assure you I am very meticulous when it comes to being sanitary at all times. You will never have to worry about cross contamination or the spread of bacteria with me as your makeup artist.
  • How much?

Prices vary depending on how many require a makeup application, travel time, additional products, labour and replacement products. This price is reflective of years of experience and personal training. Feel free to contact me and we can work out a quote.
  • How long does an application usually take?

On average 30-45 minutes. With a bride I will take a little longer to ensure she’s perfect for her day. The devil is in the details.
  • Where are you located?

I will come to you, wherever you may be located.
**Note: I do charge for travel for distances outside the HRM, 30-35kms from the downtown core, on a per/km basis. Please include the address of where you will be getting ready so that I can determine if there will be a travel charge and there are no unexpected costs to you. This is also the case with the included bridal consultation.
  • What kind of products do you use? Do you prefer a particular brand?

I am a self proclaimed product junkie! I use many top of the line products such as: MAC, Make Up For Ever, Smashbox, Tarte, Urban Decay, BenNye and Kat Von D to name a few.
  • Will I look too done up or clownish?

I can accommodate whatever look you are going for whether you wear very little to no makeup or makeup every day. We will work together to achieve your desired look and preferences. I believe in enhancing your natural beauty. We all love Kim Kardashian’s makeup and look, but let’s be honest. No one will look exactly like her. She has numerous people working with her and her look everyday. I’ll still make you look like you and bring out your best features.
  • Will my makeup last all night?

Absolutely! I use high quality primers and makeup. Using the right products to match not only your skin tone, but skin type will help your makeup last the night.
  • How do I book?

    Check out my booking form.

  • Do you give lessons?

Yes. I offer one-on-one makeup lessons or small groups. I don’t teach on a professional level, though I have volunteered in the past at the school I graduated from. We will set up a lesson specifically to what you’d like to learn. A basic foundation of skills, what suits your skin type best, what colours suit your skin tone, how to apply eyeliner, choosing the right foundation, make recommendations based on your needs and even some techniques that will bring out your best features. Contact me on my booking page for a lesson quote.
  • Can you teach me how to do < INSERT MAKEUP SKILL HERE > (ex: eyeliner)?

Absolutely! Even if you already know the basics I can show you how to do specific things. How to pick the best red lipstick for your skin tone, how to apply it flawlessly, how to do that pesky smokey or cat eye, pick out the best foundation or even conceal bad blemishes. Contact me on my booking page for a quote for a lesson.
  • Ahh! I don't remember what you told me! What do I do?

Feel free to email me. After a lesson I’m always available via email for questions.

  • Do you do weddings?

Absolutely!! I specialize in bridal makeup! My favorite application is a bridal application. There’s nothing quite like the buzz on a wedding day. The emotions, the smiles, the stories, the excitement! Contact me on my booking page to see if your big day is available and for a bridal quote.
  • Why should I hire a Makeup Artist for my wedding?

Hiring a professional makeup artist for your wedding is just as important as hiring the right photographer to capture your special day or baker to build the perfect cake. Makeup Artists use products that last all day throughout the tears and smiles. This makes capturing your perfect day by your photographer that much easier when editing time comes into play, sometimes cutting editing time in half. And as a bonus it’s just one less thing to worry about doing yourself on the big day so you can enjoy it. Many of my clients have told me they never expected to feel so relaxed on such an important and busy day. Talk about stress free!
  • Can I afford a makeup artist?

You’re spending a lot money on your big day, flowers, photographer, dress, baker, it’s understandable to question the affordability of a makeup artist. Having professionally applied makeup will help ensure that your photos will look the very best. “But I apply my own makeup every day!” Even then makeup for the camera is different and that’s where my training comes in. Did you know you lose about 60- 80% of the colour vibrancy in your makeup for flash photography or that natural daylight is the harshest light showing every little detail? Let me use my training and knowledge to make you feel more comfortable and confident on your big day. I will help ensure you look perfect before you walk down that aisle. It’s just one less thing you have to worry about on your big day.
  • When should I book a makeup artist for my wedding day?

As soon as you can. Like most venues and photographers, makeup artists tend to book a year in advance. It never hurts to contact me however in case I have a cancellation or am free that particular day. Did you know most weddings are booked on Saturdays? That being said, most Fridays or even some Sundays tend to be free. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
  • What is a consultation? Do I need one? Why?

Consultations with brides to be are important because it’s your big day and I want you to feel confident in my services on your wedding day. It’s not required but if you’re unsure if it’s something you’d like on your wedding day, book a consultation to audition me. At the consultation we will have a chance to go over your skin care concerns and needs, custom design a look that suits your style for your big day and most of all you’ll be able to walk away knowing exactly what you’ll be getting and have the chance to test it out. Consultations usually take up to 1-1&1/2 hrs and should be completed at least 2 months before the big day. I also recommend booking your consolation prior to bridal season (aprox end of May/beginning of June) as my weekends during bridal season book up pretty fast with bookings. Guarantee your date by sending in our deposit within the 30 days of your quote. Please feel free to bring photos for inspiration! A reminder, consultations are not included in the booking fee nor do they include false lashes.
  • My bridesmaid/mother of the bride/friend wants a consultation too. Is that included in the price? If not, how much?

Unfortunately no. However if she’d like to have a consultation during the same time as the bridal one we can arrange that and there would be a consultation fee. Otherwise it is considered a special event makeup application.
  • I only have an hour between my hair appointment and the ceremony. Is that enough time for me and all my bridesmaids? There's only four of us.

Unfortunately no. There’s a lot that goes into bridal makeup and in that hour I’d only be able to do the bride’s makeup and one bridesmaid, excluding set up and take down times (aprox 15 minute set up and 15 minute teardown). If I know at least a month in advance I can call  a few of my makeup artist friends and see if someone will come help, however there are no guarantees and it could cost more with multiple artists. Please help me, help you and let me know asap.
  • What happens if I change my mind and decide to forgo makeup?

No worries! I’m confident you’ll be happy with my services however you are certainly free to change your mind. If so, you’d only loose out on the nonrefundable deposit paid that covers your consultation and guaranteed date.
  • Are you available for touch ups during the big day?

Though nothing more than some blotting powder or paper and some touch up lipstick or gloss should keep you covered through out the day because of the products I use, I however am available for on location touch ups at an additional cost. (*prices to be negotiated based per/hour)
  • Why don't you double book? My wedding isn't until later that evening!

It’s been my experience that things change. It’s a fact of life. You can’t plan for the unexpected so plan to be available. I don’t double book because of this.
  • Is there anything else I should know?

    Here’s some other additional info:

    • All quotes are good for 14 days. Prices subject to change after 30 days. Date considered forfeit without deposit or communication after 14 days of quote.
    • A non refundable deposit is required for all bridal bookings prior to application to secure your date as I don’t double book weddings, due no later than at the time of bridal consultation.

Please help me plan accordingly. I want you to be on time.
    • A minimum of 15 minutes is needed at the beginning of application and an additional 15 minutes after application set up and tear down.
