Skincare: Extremely Dry Skin

Hello lovelies!

I’m sure most of you have seen the crazy “living painting” look I did for Halloween this year. The thing you didn’t see however was how dry the water activated paints made my skin after wearing them for a 6 hour shift plus an additional 2 hours before and an additional hour after.

Halloween 2015: living painting

My forehead looked like the dehydrated cracked deadpan in the desert after a drought. We’re talking “cracks that had cracks, in cracks!”

I tried all my regular dry skin haunts but to no avail, I had to head to the store. I knew this was a one time deal, that my skin would most likely return back to normal once I got ths under control, so I didn’t want to shell out a lot of dollars. Off to Shoppers! I knew they’d have something.

I stood in the skin care aisle for at least  half hour reading different labels and ingredients until I decided on Eucerin Replenishing Face Creme.

“Eucerin Smoothing Face Creme 5% Urea is a light and gentle everyday moisturiser for dry to very dry skin. Enriched with Urea and Lactate, two naturally occurring compounds that bind in moisture, it instantly hydrates dry facial skin, reducing the feeling of tightness to give it a smooth and supple feel. Rough skin is usually caused by a lack of moisture, Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream 5% Urea reduces this roughness by maintaining skin hydration. It is ideal for use under make-up or after shaving.”

And…… does this ever work!!

I’ve been using it for a week and in the first two days I noticed an improvement with my skin. I was actually amazed.

This is the routine I wound up adapting for this past week:

-MAC Fix+: the glycerine base adds hydration and the green tea and camomile calm the skin. So it’s not just a finishing spray! This can definitely be used prior to makeup as a primer and prior to skin care. Most use it simply as a setting spray, but if you’re dry to normal skin, give it a shot before makeup or moisturizer.

MAC Moisture Infusion: this lightweight serum saturates the skin with a concentrated boost of hydrating. It gently soothes, revives and replenishes the skin while preparing it for foundation. This is my saving grace for the winter months. I bust it out every fall and put it away in the late spring.

Eucerin Replenish Face Creme: this instantly rehydrated my skin after the first two uses. I was very amazed at how quickly it started working. It felt lightweight and extremely moisturizing! And it never felt greasy. A definite win that I’ll recommend to anyone with super tight skin.

How does your skin react to products? To the weather?
Do you have any tricks for when your skin is problematic?

Until next time.
